/cookie Cool beans! At first it may seem your Dervish dies a lot, probably. I have a Dervish/Necro and a Paragon/Warrior I find them both effective though I had to spend more time adapting play style for my Dervish. It's nice to run into a bunch of mobs and "melee AoE" lol. With my Paragon, he's tough and fun. I found he can often make more of a difference just chant spamming. The tendency at first was to play him like a warrior...and I was forgetting chants, etc. Your mileage may vary. |

Dervish is vunerable in the begining as he/she is a melee warrior with class 3 armor and no direct healing or running skills. Once you've gotten your 2nd and some elite skills the dervish seems to be easier to solo with.
The Paragon is great for using with heros with the shouts and echos. I've found I can take more healers along and stay healed and still have the group do good damage if I spam Anthem of Flame and later Go For the Eyes. My Paragon needs the extra support though, he won't solo well. A good secondary is the warrior with 0 tactics using "Watch Yourself" |

Why not both, you get 2 character slots?

Most people concentrate on one character at a time until they get that character to a well developed level.

The dervish - Very fun to play (you must understand the way your enchantments work to be really effective) I love the enchantments that cause burning (Best degeneration in the game) mix those enchantments with attack skills that take enchantments away and the dmg really starts building up The Avatar Elites are good fun.
The paragon - I have been having too much fun with my dervish and am not far enough with my paragon to tell you my opinions on this one. |

Imho, the Dervish is the one which offers the most visceral and fun experience, especially for a new player or for one who likes to focus on soloing with their heroes in more automated support roles.
The Paragon is fun too, but in a different way. It's easily the better profession for commanding a party of heroes or supporting a full team of players. It really depends on whether you enjoy being in the heart of the action on the frontlines (Dervish) or commanding the battlefield from the backlines (Paragon). I rarely ever focus on one toon or team at a time, thus I take a long time to finish games. It doesn't take too long to level up either one to say 10 or so to get a feel for how they play then you can focus on the one you are enjoying more and if desired play the other once you finish with the first.
To each their own. |

im putting off Dervish for a bit. I played nothing but dervish on pvp preview weekend as a D/Mo... and of course almost everyone has a D/Mo - so Im going to pick something really off the wall and explore different profession combos in pve- in pvp ive been messing around with a tainted flesh dervish.
got my paragon to gates of madness so far- court of shebekah was by far the best town for getting some skills unlocked... started as a anthem of flame spear chucker like everyone else- started using command as my main skill recently and i like it. |

There are enough Dervish and Paragon's in the game right now. It's Factions all over again (Sins and Rits).
I decided to go Mo/N because I didn't really play a Monk much in either of the first two games. All I saw in the game last night was "GLF people for mission - No more Dervish, we have enough" |
